History:
Little Pilgrim School was started in 1960 by a group of women in the Pilgrim Congregational Church to fulfill a need in the community for a quality kindergarten. It was funded by tuition and governed by a volunteer board of directors. Three and four year-old preschool programs were added over the years of operation. The school is licensed by the State of New Hampshire.
When the city of Nashua instituted its public kindergarten program, Little Pilgrim School abandoned its own kindergarten citing lack of adequate enrollment. However, the well respected three and four year-old programs remained in operation and a two year-old program was added. This constitutes the current day Little Pilgrim School.
Philosophy:
We believe that the best way to foster a love for learning in children is to provide a hands-on approach of discovery, experimentation and meaningful play. This approach allows children to learn at their own pace in a nurturing, supportive environment.
Little Pilgrim School provides a developmental environment for preschool children to gain a greater sense of self worth, respect for others, and an appreciation of their world. Using hands-on activities that are open-ended, we encourage the development of social, emotional, physical, creative, and intellectual growth. This creates a framework for life long learning.
